Introduction
EDPNET Belgium was established in 1999 by Philip Deutz, a Belgian businessperson. Initially, it operated as a high-speed Internet access provider for businesses. In 2005, EDPNET extended its services to individuals.
In 2018, EDPNET entered into an agreement with Proximus to utilize its fiber optic network for providing internet services to individuals. This partnership enabled EDPNET to expand rapidly, establishing itself as the second-largest high-speed Internet access provider in Belgium.
In 2022, EDPNET underwent judicial reorganization due to financial challenges. On March 21, 2023, Proximus acquired the company for €20.5 million.
Following the acquisition by Proximus, EDPNET continues to operate as an independent entity. It offers a full range of telecommunication services, including internet access, landline and mobile telephony, and internet television.
